TERRA Resource Group takes second place in award competition

For the fifth time since 1999, TERRA Resource Group, an Everett-based recruiting and staffing firm, has honored as a “Best Company to Work for in Washington” by Washington CEO magazine.  TERRA was honored with the second place award in the small business category (less than 100 employees) out of a field of more than 150 companies nominated.

“We have always endeavored to be an employer worthy of the very best staff and we believe that hiring and retaining the best employees has been key to our success,” said Steve Neighbors, CEO.

The firm is jointly-owned by Steve and Betty Neighbors and their daughter, Jenifer Lambert and her husband, Greg.

“Treating people well is not just a core business value for us.  It’s also a family value,” says Neighbors.

Once an employer is nominated for the award, management must submit a detailed profile of the company.  Employees then rate the company in an anonymous online survey in ten areas including internal communication, working environment, rewards and recognition, benefits, career development, leadership and corporate culture.  The survey results and corporate profiles are judged by a panel of judges who score the companies in each of the ten categories.  Results from the employee survey account for 70 percent of the final score.  Results from the judges’scores account for 30 percent.  The combined scores determine each company’s final ranking on the list which was published in the July issue of Washington CEO magazine.

The award was presented to TERRA at a special awards dinner June 29th in Seattle.  “What makes this award particularly gratifying is that in a very real way, our employees are the jury.  They have the opportunity to rate us very honestly and decide whether or not our company has earned the right to be called one of the best,” says Neighbors.  “We want to thank every member of the TERRA family who helped make this award possible.”
