My New Job Offers Career Growth – I’m Excited for What’s to Come

Career growth was not on Kylen Denkinger’s mind when she first began building her resume. That’s why she happily took on various short-term jobs in the food and hospitality industries.

She was just looking to make some money. Her primary goal was to go to college.

But after graduation, Kylen found herself needing to pay those college bills.

She no longer needed a short-term gig. She needed a full-time career.

A friend, who had found employment with a growing distribution center through TERRA’s Everett office, recommended that Kylen reach out to the Everett team.

She did, interested in learning more about jobs at that particular warehouse.

Kylen interviewed with Everett’s Staffing Specialist, who thought she would be a great fit for that role.

She shared, “Even though Kylen didn’t have any warehouse experience, she had great skills that I thought would transfer well. In her previous customer service role, she spent most of her time on her feet, moving around and working with customers. She was personable, eager to work, and I thought she had great energy. I had no doubt she would do well. Kylen just needed a chance.”

And Kylen took that chance and shined!

She demonstrated a willingness to learn and a desire to do more, happily taking on new tasks. Not only that, she was never late or missed work.

Here’s why this was exceptionally impressive: Kylen didn’t have a vehicle – and this company is not bus accessible.She actually rode her bike every day to work, rain or shine, with no issue.

None of this went unnoticed by her supervisors. They loved her strong work ethic, and the way she took initiative to get the job done. She was dependable and caught on quickly to their business’ processes.

It wasn’t long at all before Kylen was picking orders and being crossed-trained in multiple departments. And it should come as no surprise to hear that she was offered a full-time job with the company!

Oh, and did we mention that she’s also been promoted?

Kylen started in a warehouse assembly role and moved into the freight department – which she now leads!

We asked Kylen what she liked about her job. She shared, “The work atmosphere is nice. Management is trying to help people excel. We’re continuing to expand and I am excited for what the future holds.”

She’s also a TERRA fan and promoter.

“I’ve already recommended TERRA to friends in Arizona, since I know TERRA has a Phoenix office. And some of them have also been employed by TERRA!”

Kylen had this advice for job seekers on the fence about partnering with a staffing firm.

“Honestly, I was nervous that a company would not like me, or would not want to hire me.  But I think that as long as you put in an honest effort. You can always grow. You will get noticed. And miraculous things can happen for you.”
