Name: Tabitha Delairetabitha_terraversary

Title:  Recruiter

How long have you been at TERRA?

I joined TERRA on May 1, 2012

Tell us a little about your background.  What from your background do you think has lead to you being successful in your current role?

I was in the restaurant industry in high school and college.  Right before joining TERRA, I was a College Recruiter. The restaurant industry is extremely fast paced and you are always multi-tasking. Staffing is definitely high speed and I think I developed a sense of urgency from my years of customer service. My college recruiting really helped with the sales side of recruiting. I had to speak with education leaders as well as students about the school that I represented to pique their interest. I am constantly having conversations about TERRA with potential clients and employees.

What’s the best part of being in the staffing industry?

The best part about the staffing industry has been that I am constantly learning. I had no idea how big the industry was as well as how many companies have a need for staffing. I now know about positions that I never knew existed.

What do you enjoy most about working at TERRA?

I really enjoy the culture. I enjoy coming to work every day.  It’s a constant challenge, but it is great to know that all of our team is on the same page working towards one common goal. We have a really fun office, so there is always something to laugh about.

What was your first job? What did you learn from it?

My first job was as a hostess at a Mexican restaurant. I think it was really the first time that I realized the financial benefits of gainful employment.  My very first paycheck I was able to put a radio in my ’87 Honda Accord.

Share with us a most memorable moment, a success story you are really proud of helping create?

The story that really stands out for me would be a direct hire that I helped work on when I first started. It was an Executive Assistant role. I found a candidate that had a great skill set and was also really fun and positive to be around. She had moved here with her fiancée who was in the military and she was in a position that wasn’t challenging her or giving her the financial means she needed. We got her placed in a position and the company loved her! Shortly after she was placed, her fiancée fell very ill.  Her new employer worked with and gave her the flexibility to attend his medical appointments and surgeries. This new job also provided her the income to be able to better support the two of them during that time.  He is much better and she is still loving her job!

Tabitha’s pet prairie dog, Tupac. Yes, he’s an unusual pet–unusually cute!

Being at TERRA has helped me to understand how important it is to be passionate about what you do and who you work for.  I encourage everyone to find a career that makes them truly happy.  Work is work and there are challenging days, but it is worth it if you love what you do and who you work for.

Random facts about me: I have a pet prairie dog who is so cute and I love to dance!
