Jim Harmon

Area Director, Colorado

Jim had over 13 years of experience working in the retail industry, specifically in retail loss prevention. In April 2020, he made the transition to staffing, becoming TERRA’s Colorado Area Manager.

Since joining TERRA, Jim has overseen the successful launch of our Colorado market, including the opening of our Aurora and Broomfield offices.

Under Jim’s leadership, the branches have thrived, especially in what could’ve been an extremely challenging first year.

In his free time, Jim loves to golf and enjoys spending quality time with his two young sons and wife. He is also an avid craft beer enthusiast and a big sports fan.

Get to know me

Tell me about your first job:

My first job was working for my uncle. He owns a residential painting business in my hometown that has been around for over 40 years. The work wasn’t easy, but it definitely helped teach me the values of discipline, hard-work and working towards a goal. In just over a summer, I was able to purchase my first car in cash from the money I earned there. 

What other professions would you like to try?

I went to school for and had a strong desire to be in law enforcement. I still have an active interest in law enforcement but I’m also glad I didn’t continue to pursue that path.

If you could possess any super power, what would it be?

 I’ve always wanted the ability to fly!

What do you enjoy most about working in the staffing industry?

I really enjoy the fast paced environment that we work in and the variety and challenges that every day brings. And, of course, I love those times when we are able to contribute to changing someone’s life for the better!

Best career advice you’ve ever received?

My dad always told my brothers and I to work hard at whatever we do, but to do something that we truly enjoy. Otherwise, it makes getting out of bed every day that much more difficult.
