Mark Taylor

Chief Financial Officer

As CFO, Mark is responsible for understanding our client’s industries, the economics driving their success and how TERRA helps them succeed by providing the staffing they need, where they need it and right on time. Mark focuses on the core measures and financial principles that maintain the health of the company through all phases of the business cycle. The way we spend and invest supports TERRA’s mission, Success Stories Created Daily.

Mark has been a consultant to companies similar to TERRA’s clients and has seen firsthand how critical a strong labor force is to manufacturers and the cities that support them. His expertise lies in utilizing enterprise software systems to fulfill company goals, sometimes moving to more advanced systems and capabilities as the company’s needs change.

When not at the office, Mark spends time hiking and climbing in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. He is an unofficial Mt. Adams Climb Guide, and takes friends and workmates on annual treks to Rainier base camp (weather permitting!)

Get to know me

Tell me about your first job.

My first job was in high school where—with the help of a volunteer mentor from the local Chamber of Commerce—I built up a landscaping/house painting service that grew to a size and success that I could never have imagined on my own. I wouldn’t have been able to do anything like that without the help of a volunteer. He knew what to do. I just had to be willing to show up, pay attention and work hard.

What other professions would you like to try?

I would like to build city-sized green communities where high-efficiency housing is expertly situated on sustainably managed farms backing onto wild spaces. Once healthy landscapes get to scale, they create their own weather, replenish the water table, and fight off fires and diseases.

If you could possess any super power, what would it be?

The ability to make the land, water and air pristine.

What do you enjoy most about working in the staffing industry?

I have seen firsthand that our country needs a strong manufacturing workforce. And we can address that need by providing each generation with good job opportunities where they can learn and grow professionally.  TERRA, matches companies with people who are looking to build their career and learn lifelong skills.

Best career advice you’ve ever received?

A mentor once told me that organizations go in cycles of stability. Then massive change. Then back to stability. He told me to focus hard and manage the change part of the cycle. Once everyone gets through it and adapts, we go back to stability.
