When I Needed a More Stable Income, TERRA Found Me a Great Job

Kevin Monsanto grew up in Brooklyn, New York, but he decided to move to Oregon in order to experience more of the world.

Once in Oregon, he quickly began builing his skill set, working in different industries, including warehouse, repair and aerospace manufacturing.

Most recently, he was working for a company that sold supplies and equipment to tree climbers.

While he enjoyed the sales aspect of the job, it wasn’t busy enough for him to make a living.

He needed a more stable income.

He made the decision to go back to school for business administration. But he quickly discovered that school was going to cost money that he wasn’t earning. And that getting a degree was going to take a lot longer than he wanted.

Realizing that he needed work fast, Kevin began searching for staffing agencies.

He was looking for a role in manufacturing, something he had previous experience in that industry. He saw that TERRA’s Clackamas office had several production positions availabel, and he decided to reach out and set up and interview.

Kevin met with Clackamas Staffing Specialist Zady Blaize.

“Kevin was extremely outgoing, professional and honest with what he was looking for in a career, specifically a more stable income. He also expressed his interest in wanting to grow with a smaller company,” Zady said, recalling her meeting with Kevin.

She was looking to a fill a temp-to-hire machine operator role at a local aerospace manufacturing company, and thought he would be a good fit for the position.

“Kevin had worked with an aerospace manufacturing company before and really enjoyed working in that environment. With his positive attitude, great communication and willingness to learn something new, I knew he would fit right in at this new company,” Zady shared.

She told Kevin about the role and he felt confident he would excel in the role. Kevin happily accepted Zady’s offer.

He is really enjoying his new job.

“It feels good to have benefits and a stable income. I’m gaining new experience, learning several departments. I work hard and stay busy, without burning out. I definitely plan on staying here!”

The company has noted Kevin’s willingness to learn new things and help in other areas when needed, even things outside of his normal job duties. He is recognized as a team player with a great work ethic.

And we have some exciting news to share. Kevin has been promoted to a more skilled machine operator role and is also learning CNC mill!

Kevin had this advice for those looking to be successful in a new job:

“Don’t be afraid to ask questions. That will help you avoid mistakes. Try partnering with a staffing agency and be willing to accept temporary work, it can lead to something long-term.”
