Thanks TERRA! My New Job is Everything I Was Looking For

Latonya McCullough has always been good with people – and she used that gift to create an impressive 15-year customer service career.

Her experience included working in call enters, sales, retail, health care, and telecommunications. No matter where she went, her job was to interact with people and do it well.

In January of 2016, Latonya moved from St. Louis to Tacoma and needed to find a new job quickly.

Latonya worked with another staffing firm that specialized in technical jobs, but she didn’t feel like they had any opportunities that were right for her.

In March, a friend recommended that she try TERRA instead.

She went to the TERRA’s Tacoma office and spoke to Staffing Specialist, Liliana Zamudio. Latonya made sure to showcase her personable and professional side. And she expressed her desire to use her people skills and analytical ability in an office environment. She was done with call centers.

Liliana told the rest of her team about Latonya and her skills.

The Tacoma office kept Latonya steadily employed doing temporary work, while they searched for a job that was in line with her skills and her needs.

Recruiter Tabitha Delaire set up an interview for Latonya that unfortunately that did not go well. But Tabitha worked with Latonya and coached her on what to expect in her next interview and gave her tips to help set her up for success.

Latonya appreciated her talks with Tabitha. “She didn’t judge me,” Latonya said.

Not long after, Tabitha received a call from one of her clients who was looking to hire a Risk Insurance Specialist. “They needed someone who could jump in, was strong with computers and had experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Latonya had previous experience in fast paced environments that had strict deadlines. I knew she was right for the job,” said Tabitha.

And Tabitha was right. The employer hired Latonya on as a full-time, regular employee in record time!

Latonya loves her role as a Risk Insurance Specialist. She’s able to work independently, but she’s also part of a team. She also appreciates the fun perks of her job. Two things that stand out most to her are the healthy treats available to employees and that she has the freedom to listen to music, both things she had never experienced before with previous employers. “I love working in an office that supplies so many apples and lets me listen to Pandora!” she happily exclaimed.

Latonya compared her experience with TERRA to other staffing firms, “TERRA is more personable and they have all types of jobs. They dabble in many industries.”

She’s already started to spread the word about TERRA. And when Latonya tells people about her great job, she says, “It’s everything I was looking for!”
