(L-R: Robben, Everett’s On-Site Supervisor, and Seth) Regarding TERRA staff, Seth said, “They are always good at providing information and I could always bounce ideas off of them. If there were ever any issues, they were on it.”

When life doesn’t go as planned, it’s easy to fall down a rabbit hole of sadness, frustration and negativity.

Why didn’t things go the way I wanted? Everything would have been perfect if they had.

It may not be always be easy to understand why things happen the way they do, but sometimes one door closes so another door can open.

Seth Baldwin understands this all too well.

You see, not too long ago, Seth had a great job lined up. A job that would allow him to use his aerospace, warehouse, manufacturing, and quality assurance skills. It was perfect for him and he was really excited about the role.

Then, for reasons beyond his control, everything fell apart. He not only lost his shot at this ideal job, he lost his job altogether.

But he remained positive.

Seth said, “I didn’t tell myself ‘poor me.’ I knew I had the knowledge and I had a great professional reference.”

Being a single father, he also knew that he was setting an example for his son. So he didn’t let it get him down.

Determined, Seth proceeded to apply everywhere for work, without much success. He wasn’t sure what else to do.

That’s when a friend recommended that he reach out to TERRA’s Everett team. She was working for a great company and the Everett branch could help him get his foot in the door.

Though this would require him to move, Seth decided to take the plunge. He relocated and connected with TERRA.

It proved to be a great decision for him.

Seth got the job. And according to the Everett team, the client was very impressed with Seth – his great attitude and strong work ethic. He created a reputation for himself as someone who could be trusted to get tasks done in a timely manner. Though he initially started in an assembly role, his hard work and contagious, positive attitude opened doors for him, allowing him to move up into other roles.

Currently, Seth is in a newly created role, working at the company headquarters doing security. This job allows him to use his skill set on a regular basis. It also allows him to share some of his infectious, upbeat attitude with the people he comes in contact with on a regular basis.

We asked Seth about his success in his role and wanted to see if he had any advice for job seekers.

He shared, “When I moved down to Everett my stress level was high. But a month later I had an apartment and didn’t have to rely on anybody else.

My job allows me the opportunity to grow, learn, apply my skills, and help the company.

I love that I can use my resume practically again.

And I like people – getting to know them, helping them, and doing what I can to make their day awesome.

To anyone struggling to find a job I would say, no matter where you’re at, be willing to learn, be willing to change, and be willing to do what it takes to succeed. Take opportunities to learn from everyone. Communicate clearly. And you will reach your goal. “

Seth never let his fears or any negative thoughts take control of him. He remained positive and, sure enough, a great opportunity presented itself. When he was at work, Seth let his great attitude, eagerness to learn, and his desire to help others shine through. It not only helped him do his job successfully, it allowed him to grow professionally. Now he is in a role that is a great fit for his personality and skills.
