TERRA Helped Me Find a Job That is Both Comfortable and Fulfilling

It’s important to have a job that makes you feel comfortable. And if you find yourself in a job that doesn’t feel right, you owe it to yourself to find one that does.

Take Levi Tena, for example.

Levi was in his element working in a warehouse setting. As a matter of fact, he worked at one of the largest appliance distributors for over three years and was a top-performer.

He loved production and warehouse work, and was happy in his role. Life was good.

But things don’t always go as planned, and sometimes you’re forced to make sacrifices.

When Levi’s wife’s grandparents needed support, Levi stepped up to help them out. He had to leave a career that he loved and was comfortable doing, to work as their caregiver.

He enjoys helping people, especially when it’s family. But Levi wasn’t excited about going to work every day.

He missed the comfort of a production environment. So, after a year, he decided to take a part-time position with his former employer, working in the receiving department.

Levi quickly noticed things weren’t the same as they used to be. People didn’t seem to care about the work they were doing. He wasn’t getting enough hours either.

The job no longer felt comfortable. It was his goal to find a better fit.

It was around this time that his friend told him about TERRA. He’d seen that TERRA’s Clackamas office was looking for a shipping and receiving position and encouraged Levi to apply.

Figuring that he had nothing to lose, Levi sent in his resume.

Within a day, he received a call from a recruiter to set up an interview.

Levi went in knowing he wanted a warehouse or general labor role with a full-time schedule, and disclosed that to the team.

The Clackamas team appreciated his honesty and were impressed by his track record. Previous employers raved about him, speaking very highly of his dependability and consistency.

The team had a client, a wholesale distributor of pool supplies and equipment, who was looking for a warehouse order puller. They wanted someone who was reliable and consistent. Levi seemed like the perfect fit.

And they were right! Levi got the job and is loving it.

He loves the laid-back environment, the sense of community between workers and the fact that everyone is committed to doing a good job.

His manager said, “Levi has a great personality, stays focused and has a long-term future with the company.”

We asked Levi if he had any advice for job seekers. Here’s what he had to say:

“Keep your options open, but be specific in what you want. Don’t feel like you have to take the first option you’re presented. Make sure it’s what you really want. TERRA listened to what I wanted and now I have it!”
