TERRA Found Me A Job That Aligns With My Values

Misty Sanchez was working as a remote Collections Coordinator, and the position had lost its luster. 

Her job became even less appealing after she learned that the company’s values didn’t align with her own. That was especially difficult to endure for Misty, because she has a passion for helping people. Understandably, she wanted to find a new position—one where she could flex her customer service skills. 

Having heard about TERRA Staffing Group from a friend, she decided to give it a try and spoke with Rachel Mendez, Recruiting Coordinator out of the Lakewood branch office. 

They discussed what Misty was looking for out of her next opportunity, and that’s when Rachel learned about her incredible story. 

Misty shared that for the last three years, she has been battling breast cancer—defeating it once and preparing herself to beat it for the second time. She was understandably nervous that the hiring process would be too much to handle. But she also wanted to find a position where she could help people, gain longevity, and feel valued. I told her that I’d make it as easy as possible to find that perfect position.

Shortly after they connected, a client reached out about a Nursing Assistant role. Rachel knew that Misty would flourish in this position. Not only was she warm and personable, she had a background in human services. 

So Rachel arranged an interview between Misty and her client. As Rachel expected, Misty made a great impression — just by being herself. The client could see that her desire to help was genuine. 

Rachel shared, “Our client loved that Misty was friendly and really had a can-do attitude that drew people to her.”

Shortly after Misty completed the interview, she received a job offer! 

Now she has a position that utilizes her strengths. 

I enjoy learning and having opportunities to learn new things. I’m really happy because this is a new and different position for me.

When asked what advice she would give to anyone looking for work, here’s what Misty recommends: 

“Be yourself! And be honest.”
