TERRA Helped Turn My Dream Job Into My Reality

John Minginmar thought he’d found his dream job, working as an electrician.

Unfortunately, the work he did was seasonal. During the Oregon winters, the workload would slow down and there’d be layoffs.

Sadly, John found himself being laid off and in need of new employment.

But he didn’t let it get him down. He quickly went to a staffing agency for help finding a job… and they did find him one.

It just wasn’t the right fit.

Rather than be unhappy in a role he didn’t like, he decided to do an online search for more job opportunities. That’s how he found TERRA Staffing Group’s Portland office. Hoping to start a new job as soon as possible, he called and scheduled an appointment.

John showed up to his interview with an open mind, and was even willing to take on temporary assignments if necessary.

He met with Recruiter Nicole Marquez, who was working on finding a temp-to-hire order puller for one of her clients, a major car parts warehouse. Because of John’s skill set and positive attitude, she thought he would be a great fit for the position.

“When I talked to him about the job and its many benefits, he got so excited,” Nicole shared.

She arranged an interview, and the meeting went exceedingly well.

Nicole said, “After his initial interview with the hiring managers, he was absolutely ecstatic. He let me know how much he wanted the job.”

Of course, he got the job! John started working just a few days later.

John’s enthusiasm, dedication and positive attitude have been noted by the supervisors.

His supervisor said, “John has had no errors and has a very positive attitude. He doesn’t like to leave unfinished work. He continues to improve and shows the drive and demeanor that we look for in a perfect candidate.”

What’s great is that not only does the client think that John is perfect for the role, John feels the role is perfect for him!

“Every morning I wake up wanting to go to work. It’s something I look forward to. It’s a feeling I’ve never experienced before and I love it. I used to drive past the building every day on my way to my previous job and always say to myself, ‘It would be a dream to work there.’ Thanks to Nicole and TERRA, now I really have my dream job!”

“Everyone is usually concerned with getting the highest paying job, but that’s not what’s important. The most important thing is to find a job you know you will enjoy. You spend a significant amount of your time at work, so make sure it makes you happy.”
