However, partnering with a staffing firm is only the first step. You’ll also need to connect with your staffing partner in ways that allow you to leverage the agency’s resources to their fullest potential.
To determine whether you’re getting the most from your relationship with your staffing firm, consider the following questions:
Are They Helping You Meet Your Hiring Needs—and Then Some?
Every competent staffing agency can help you find the people you need when you need them. The best staffing agency for you, however, will go one step further. You’re maximizing your relationship with your staffing partner when they not only help you find better talent, but also help with strategic planning and other tasks.
Do They Always Want to Know What’s New With Your Business?
Staffing firms thrive on communication, and the best staffing firms won’t wait for you to reach out to them with updates on business trends or feedback about candidates; they’ll reach out to you. If you don’t feel your staffing partner is a colleague you can talk to and trust, consider finding a new staffing firm.
Are They Helping You Meet Your Goals as a Company?
Does your staffing partner know what your company’s goals are? If so, what specific actions have they taken in the past few months to help you meet those goals?
If the answer to the first question is “no,” or you’re dissatisfied with the answer to the second, talk to other staffing firms. Find out how they help their clients meet company goals.
Do Candidates Meet Your Standards and Needs?
Any staffing firm can send you candidates. If these candidates don’t fit the demands of the job or they offer a poor fit with your company’s culture, however, your staffing firm isn’t sending better candidates than you would find with an anonymous job ad. Make sure candidates meet your standards and needs, and that those you hire really do succeed on the job.
