TERRA Opened the Door for Me To a Great Full-Time Job

Some job seekers are hesitant to partner with a staffing company when searching for a job.

They make the assumption that every opportunity is temporary or that there is no chance that a partnership with a recruiting firm will lead to full-time, regular employment.

And that’s a misconception that can cause many people to miss out on some amazing opportunities.

We’d like to share Joe Fields’ story as an example.

Joe is an IT professional who was looking for a new job. While he would have liked something more long-term, he was not opposed to contract work, as long as it was negotiated directly with the employer.

One day, he was searching online for interesting job opportunities and he came across a contract IT job working for a local company. He decided to apply.

Candice Engelhart, TERRA Technical Recruiter managing the account, reached out to him about the opportunity.

Joe hadn’t realized that the job he had applied for was through a staffing agency. And though he found the Helpdesk position interesting, Joe was skeptical about working with TERRA.

Candice addressed his concerns. She took the time to answer his questions and explain the process, and he decided to move forward. Within just one week of interviewing with Candice, he was starting a new contract job.

But it didn’t remain a contract job for long.

Less than two months into what was meant to be a six month role, the client called Candice and said, “We’re just going to keep him.”

Joe’s excellent work and ability to exceed expectations turned a contract job into full-time regular employment!

We asked him to share a few words about his experience working with TERRA.

Tell us a little about you and your background.
My name is Joe and I am an IT professional. I started fixing computers when I was just in junior high. Then in the service. I transitioned to the corporate sector nine years ago. I began in a help desk role and was promoted to several other positions form there: Software QA, Lead Tester, System Admin, Network Admin, and IT Manager.

How did you hear about TERRA?
I found TERRA though a job posting online, for a position with a local company.

How did your experience with TERRA compare to what you expected or experienced from other staffing firms?
I put in very little effort once the initial paperwork was done. The online portal for timekeeping and pay was very easy to do each week.

Is there anyone specifically at TERRA you would like to thank?
Candice Engelhart was my primary point of contact. She was my recruiter and support team. She was very happy, helpful and professional throughout the whole process.
