Kathryn Roper had experience working in management, hospitality and finance.
And while she’d gained multiple skills, she was frustrated by the lack of room for growth and advancement.
It was time for a change in atmosphere, so she decided to move from Pennsylvania to Washington.
Kathryn was open to diverse opportunities and thought a staffing firm would be able to help provide her with options. She reached out to TERRA for help with her job search.
Her skill set, professionalism, great attitude, and flexibility opened the door to several opportunities.
Multiple TERRA offices helped place Kathryn on a variety of assignments, from reception to whiskey bottling. She even helped support TERRA’s own payroll department as a payroll assistant, covering a maternity leave!
When the Seattle office had a contract-to-hire opportunity to work for a company that supports the legal industry, Recruiter Patty Stoddard immediately thought of Kathryn.
Patty said, “Having worked with Kathryn at our corporate office, I knew her to be upbeat, extremely reliable and smart! She always saw projects through to completion and understood the importance of accuracy and on-time delivery! I knew these attributes would be a strong match for the needs of a company whose work supports the legal world – where everything is time-sensitive and accuracy is essential.”
And Kathryn excelled in the role.
She started on the logistics team, scanning and compiling data, among other administrative duties. She showed such strong attention to detail that she was quickly moved up to support the very fast-paced mail room.
Kathryn now oversees the distribution of large volumes of incoming mail and coordinates the shipment of outgoing orders to customers all over the United States.
“I love the pace. Getting things done within a certain time frame… the focus,” she said.
The client loves having her on their team. So much so that they hired her on full-time at the earliest opportunity!
“They appreciate Kathryn’s punctuality and reliability, as well as her easygoing approach to work. Even during the busiest of times, she stays focused, positive and productive. They think she is a great addition to their team,” Patty disclosed.
Kathryn’s strong work ethic and reliability clearly went a long way in helping her be successful on temporary assignments, as well as her most recent full-time placement.
We asked Kathryn to share her secret to a success.
She said, “It’s a good thing to be well-rounded. To be open-minded. No job is too small. I see every job as a learning experience. And if you’re working with a staffing agency, it’s important to be patient and maintain communication.”
We’re pleased to have been able to help Kathryn add to her already expansive skill set. And we are thrilled that we were able to help open the door to this great full-time opportunity that offers her exactly what she had been looking for – room for growth.
