resume secrets - how to get your manufacturing resume noticedAre you afraid your manufacturing resume won’t get noticed?

You’re not alone.

Applying for jobs can be pretty competitive. Many manufacturing professionals who are looking to take the next step in their manufacturing careers worry about their resume being overlooked or ignored.

But we have some good news!

Crafting a manufacturing resume that sets you apart from all the rest is easy.

Follow these 4 steps to create a standout manufacturing resume:

1. Highlight your skills.

Create a separate skills section at the top of your resume. This will make your skills stand out. List any certifications you have. Forklift, welding, or soldering, for example. Keep your skills recent and relevant – within the last 10-15 years.

2. Keep the format simple.

Distracting designs or layouts will take away from what’s important. Use a classic font. Times New Roman, Arial and Calibri are the most recommended. Keep the font size between 10 and 12 points. The easier a resume is to read, the easier it is for hiring managers to find the information they’re looking for.

3. Use industry-related keywords.

A lot of companies use applicant tracking software to sort through resumes and search for particular skills. By including specific tools, skills and other industry-related keywords in your manufacturing resume, you’re increasing your chances of appearing in specific searches. It’s not only a great way to align your skills to specific job opportunities, it also increases your chances of getting a call back.

4. Include metrics.

Show, don’t tell. Numeric data tells a story and is a great way to highlight your accomplishments and track-record of success – and numbers don’t lie. Including numbers in your manufacturing resume makes you a more credible candidate. AND it clearly demonstrates the value you offer a company.

Searching for jobs can be intimidating. But don’t overthink it.

Let your experience speak for you on your manufacturing resume. If you’re qualified for a position, employers will notice.
