Paul Lynskey and his mom were owners of a successful dog-walking business.
Despite having a strong clientele, there wasn’t any opportunity for upward mobility, and Paul started to feel stuck. He wanted a role with growth potential.
“While the dogs were fun, I didn’t have much interaction with other people,” Paul admitted.
Though he was eager for something else, he didn’t know what that looked like.
“I’d been thinking about finding a new job for a while, but didn’t know what type of work I wanted or where to start looking,” he said.
That was until his fiancée suggested TERRA Staffing Group.
“She told me about TERRA and said I should check it out and see what jobs they had,” he stated. “I’d never worked with a staffing agency and didn’t really know what to expect. But she had great things to say so I decided to give it a try.”
He set up an interview with the Kirkland office to see if they could help him find a good role.
At his interview, he spoke with Recruiter Mandy Vichas about a warehouse job at a company that distributes various types of clothing, decor and other swag for the gaming industry.
Paul was ecstatic. “I’d been following the company for a while. It was perfect that they had an opening.”
Mandy was excited about it as well.
“Paul had the perfect personality for the company,” she said. “I knew he could do the work and would fit in great with everyone there.”
He started working in the warehouse soon after. And though the industry was new to him, it ended up being an easy transition.
“When I was dog-walking, I was on my feet and walking around from 8am-4pm all day, so the level of activity involved in the job worked perfectly,” he said.
But Paul is enjoying more than just that.
“It’s a really fun work environment. I’m typically excited to go to work every day!” he exclaimed. “I’m in a better mood, I’m energized all day, and I always feel like I’ve done a good job at work. I didn’t really think I’d like warehouse work but I love it.”
There’s more great news! After three months in this role, he was converted to a full-time employee with the company!
We asked Paul what he thinks makes him a good employee. He shared, “I try to always put in my maximum effort and have a good attitude. Even when I’m not feeling 100%.”
Paul has some advice for people that are feeling stuck in their job:
“Try something even if you’re not sure you will be good at it. You never know if you’ll enjoy it unless you try it.”
Congratulations, Paul! We’re so happy we were able to help you find a job you love!
