TERRA Found Me a Job Fast – Now I Can Pursue My Passion Project

Partnering with a temp agency is a great way to get a job and earn a steady income while you pursue your dreams.

Eric Salazar would agree.

Animation is Eric’s passion. In June of 2016, he attained a Bachelor of Science degree in computer animation. After he graduated, he took on a variety of customer service jobs, including call center and front desk work, to supplement his income while he began to create.

Wanting to be closer to the animation/movie industry, Eric decided to move to the Seattle area.

He began searching for both animation and receptionist jobs – and continued working on his own animation projects on the side.

Unfortunately, he was not having a lot of luck searching for a job on his own.

An online job posting led him to TERRA’s Kirkland office.

“I didn’t know it was a temp agency at first,” Eric confessed. “But I figured, why not?”

The Kirkland team thought he had great work experience and loved his upbeat and friendly disposition. That, combined with his flexibility and open-mindedness to temp work, gave Kirkland recruiters confidence that they would be able to help Eric find a great job.

As it so happened, they had a temporary administrative project for one of their clients, organizing their files and database.

Eric did a great job and built a reputation for himself with the employer. Thanks to his work ethic and positive attitude, the client let the Kirkland team know that they wanted to bring him on for another temporary assignment, providing front desk coverage during the holidays.

Once again, he shined. When the client had a full-time, receptionist opening, they hired Eric!

We asked him to give some insight into his success in turning a temporary job into a full-time job.

“I generally like to do things with speed. I got my degree in 21 months and worked while taking classes. I’m also used to working well with deadlines.”

He added, “I’m a people person. It’s fun meeting and talking to new people.”

With these great qualities, it’s no surprise that the client knew that they needed Eric to be a full-time member of their team.

On the fence about temp work? Eric had this advice:

“Give it a shot. I’d always heard bad stuff about working with a temp agency and taking temp jobs – and that people didn’t have a high opinion of temps. But I’d advise you to have an open mind and try to find your place.

“I would definitely recommend TERRA. Everyone was fantastic. They really helped me find good work.”

While we at TERRA appreciate Eric’s praise, we only opened the door for him. His success and ability to turn a temp assignment into a career is due to his work ethic and engaging personality – and we couldn’t be happier for him!
