I’m Glad Temp Agencies Exist – I Have a Great Job Now Thanks to TERRA

Patrick Chambers had more than 20 years of warehouse experience under his belt. But when he found himself unemployed, getting a new job proved to be a struggle – despite his skill set.

“I was ideally looking for full-time work, but, honestly, I wasn’t picky. I was open to doing pretty much anything. I’m a hard worker and willing to learn,” said Patrick.

His friend’s uncle recommended that he reach out to TERRA Staffing Group, a top temp agency in Tacoma.

Patrick had worked with temp agencies in the past and saw the value in partnering with one on his job search.

His concern was earning an income quickly. He had bills to pay and knew that temp agencies were well connected and could help get a new job fast.

As it happened, the Tacoma team found Patrick a job the very same day!

Over the course of a few months, Patrick was placed in a variety of roles, including production, machine operation, sanitation, and warehouse. He always did great work.

Teresa thought that Patrick would be a great fit for one of her clients. This client hadn’t reached out for staffing help, but Teresa just knew that Patrick would be a great fit and an asset to the company.

“I reached out to the warehouse manager,” Teresa said. “I told him, ‘I have the perfect candidate for you. Someone who has proven to be a reliable and solid worker. Someone with a good attitude and work mentality. He can perform all of the duties you’d require. He’s looking for a workplace home and I think it would be a great match on both sides.’ The manger told me that they didn’t have any openings but would keep Patrick in mind.”

A week later, the manager called Teresa saying that he wanted to give Patrick a try.

Patrick went into the role determined to show his employer what he could do and prove that he could add value to the team.

Like always, he did fantastic work and exceeded expectations. And though it was meant to be a temp job, the client kept him longer and ultimately offered Patrick full-time, regular employment!

Here’s what his warehouse supervisor said, “Pat came to us from TERRA Staffing at a time when we really didn’t need extra staff. We decided to take a chance and see if he could help us boost production a little bit. He not only helped boost production a little, he helped us over the hump to achieve our hourly production goals, resulting in a full-time position for him. Patrick has become a driving force, helping the team achieve higher production numbers than we have seen prior to his employment. He continues to be an asset to us.”

Now Patrick has a full-time job that provides medical, dental, vacation, sick leave, and production bonuses!

He couldn’t be happier.

He shared, “I love my boss. He’s so cool and down to earth. I like the work. It’s fast-paced and keeps me moving. I don’t get bored. There is so much for me to learn. I look forward to going to work. I have a future here.”

Regarding his experience with TERRA, Patrick said, “TERRA kept me steadily employed. They always had an opportunity for me. I am thankful to TERRA – and thankful to God that temp agencies are around. It’s not easy finding a job on your own.”

Hesitant to work with a staffing agency? Patrick had this advice to share:

“Working with a staffing agency can get you a quick start. They can help you get your foot in the door of a company much quicker than you could on your own. Plus, some companies only work with agencies when hiring people.

If you don’t like the situation you’re in, go to an agency and get your foot in the door. It’s time for you to try something different. Put your pride aside.”
