Have you ever wanted to pursue a new career, but have been too scared to try? What if it doesn’t work out? What if the new job isn’t better after all? What if…
Like many of us, Scott Grese could relate.
Scott’s professional background included customer service, sales, handling claims, and writing estimates for car repairs. While he was comfortable in all these roles, he wanted to move away from customer-facing jobs.
He knew it was time for a change. But deep down he was nervous about leaving a good job to make the leap into a new profession.
Step in, Amber Low, TERRA’s Technical Division Manager. She reached out to Scott before he had even begun searching for a new job.
You see, sometimes job seekers seek us and sometimes we seek them, and Amber’s research had led her to Scott. She spoke to him about a Product Development Coordinator role she was working on. She thought that his skills and experience made him a great fit.
Scott was tentative. He wasn’t sure if this role would be a better fit than his current one. Not only that, Scott had never worked with a recruiter before. Plus, he self-described himself as having an “80’s mentality.” He believed in meeting people in person, shaking hands and making eye contact. Being contacted out-of-the-blue by someone he had never met was new ground for him.
But Scott decided to take a leap and work with Amber.
And he is so glad he did.
Less than three weeks later, Scott started his new job!
He now works with a team developing board games – something he enjoys and is fascinated by! He appreciates learning about, and being involved with, the entire creative process.
He really couldn’t be more pleased.
“I was really lucky to have Amber,” Scott shared. “She has been incredible! Even after I got the position, I’ve already had two conversations with her. Her follow-through has been amazing!”
As for his experience working with TERRA, Scott said, “Everything about it was very smooth and easy. It’s great to have an advocate working on your behalf. TERRA’s representatives have been wholly positive and professional.” He added, “I would definitely recommend TERRA to any friends or family.”
We couldn’t be happier for Scott and are so pleased he is enjoying his job.
