My New Job Fits My Scheduling Needs – I Can Now Pursue My Passion

Josh Hoffman is passionate about boxing. So much so, in fact, that he trains full-time.

The only issue? It doesn’t pay the bills.

Because of that, Josh has to find work to supplement his income.

Recently, he was working in a fast-food restaurant. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.

“The job was too far away and the commute became too much for me,” Josh admitted.

He knew he had to find something else. But it’s a little tricky finding a work schedule that fits between his training schedule. When he decided to start looking for a new job, his coach recommended TERRA.

“I was a little hesitant to work with a staffing agency,” Josh said. “I didn’t really know how it worked or what to expect.”

Since he was in urgent need of a job, he decided to give TERRA a chance. He connected with the Clackamas office.

He shared that he was interested in temporary work, but needed those jobs to fit around his boxing schedule. And for about three months, the Clackamas team was able to help find him just that. They provided Josh with steadier employment than he was expecting.

He said, “I was working some short-term, warehouse jobs. But even though they were all temporary, I was working every day.”

Recruiter Laila Hosseini had worked with him previously and had placed him on a few different job assignments. She had come to appreciate his reliability. So, when she received a two-month temporary position she knew just who to call.

Laila shared, “Josh has a really great attitude and demeanor. I knew he would enjoy working with this company.”

And she was right.

“Once I started working at this company, I was sold,” Josh said. “The people were awesome and it’s an amazing atmosphere. The company really cares for their employees and their comfort.”

As the project neared its end, he found himself not wanting to leave. But, as it turns out, the company didn’t want Josh to leave either. He was a great fit for their team. And, much to Josh’s delight, the company offered him a full-time role!

“I was very happy!” Josh exclaimed. “It’s just a really great place to work.”

Since getting hired by the company, his career has continued to grow.

“I’ve gotten forklift certified and have gained more responsibilities,” he shared.

And while all of this is great news, here is the best part: this job works with his schedule, so he’s still able to continue boxing!

For those struggling to find a job that’s right for them, Josh has this advice:

“Keep your head up and keep working. Put yourself out there – because that’s where you’re going to find work! Be polite and respectful. And, above all, go in there and give it your all.”
