When I Needed to Find Stability, TERRA Helped Me Find My Career Home

Randy Miner was determined to find his career home. He’d been on the job search for a while. But nothing ever seemed to pan out.

“I kept getting positions that would promise long-term work,” Randy said. “But it would end up being seasonal and I’d have to find something else.”

This posed a serious problem. You see, Randy, is a single dad and his employment situation was creating instability for his family.

“Whenever I had to find a new job, we had to move,” he shared. “We’d change cities – and schools, and it just wasn’t sustainable.”

It was time to buckle down and find the right job—one that would provide a better life for him and his son.

“I knew I needed something where I could grow into a career,” he shared.

His job search lead him to TERRA Staffing Group’s Vancouver, WA office.

Randy came in to interview at TERRA hoping that maybe this was going to be the end to his long search. There wasn’t a position available for him immediately, but it was only a matter of days before that changed.

Nicole Marquez, Vancouver Recruiter, was looking to fill a packaging position and she thought Randy’s experience was a great match with the position. She quickly reached out.

“I wasn’t expecting a call back as soon as I received one,” Randy said.

Randy had already scheduled an interview at a different company, but decided to hear what Nicole had to say about her position.

“In our first conversation, I could tell that Randy was looking for his career home where he could grow. It was perfect because this company really likes to promote from within and uses temp-to-hire roles to find long-term employees,” Nicole explained.

They talked about the position and both came to the conclusion that this job would be a good fit. They decided to move forward in scheduling an interview with the company.

To preparing for his interview, Randy checked out the company’s website. He liked what he saw. In fact, he was so impressed he decided to cancel his interview with the other company.

“Not only did this company offer better growth opportunities, it looked like the better fit for me,” Randy exclaimed.

Not long after the interview, he received a job offer!

Here’s where the story gets even better. Because of Randy’s great attendance and strong work ethic, Randy was hired on as a long-term employee – a month before he was scheduled to!

“Randy’s a hard worker. That came across to the employer from the get-go,” Nicole shared. “Before even starting, he let me know he wasn’t going to let me down and that he’d go in and show them what he’s made of. He really did.”

Finding the right job has made a huge difference in his life. He’s now settled down in his career home and his son is no longer needing to worry about switching schools.

“I would 100% recommend TERRA to someone that’s serious about getting to work. I’ve had a great experience with TERRA,” Randy said.

“Make yourself reliable. Attendance is so important in every step in the process. The company knows they can rely on you, which goes a long way.”
